Strawberries are beautiful red and a sweet treat to eat. Like most fruits and vegetables they can be eaten in their entirety, however given the growing environments and chemicals that may be used to treat them, it is probably best to clean and eat the berry only.
Strawberries are a good source of vitamin C, but also have been studied for their ability to prevent inflammation disorders and oxidative stress and reduce cardiac health risks. The red coloring in strawberries is chemically similar to that found in beets, which are known to reduce cardiac health risks.
